ServiceFM announces board members

ServiceFM’s board has been announced, with Dr Mal Hemmerling and Jennifer Ma joining the organisation as it completes a multi-year business transformation.

The business is a merging of the entities formerly operating under the banner of Academy Group Services – Academy Services, eSafe and UniversalFM.

ServiceFM is a facility services company, with the motto Everything’s Connected.

The board will be chaired by former Adelaide Grand Prix, Bob Jane Corporation and Sydney Olympics chief Dr Mal Hemmerling.

He will be joined on the ServiceFM board by:

“This is an exciting time for this company as we transform to suit the needs of our clients and the modern business environment,” Dr Hemmerling said.

“We’re especially delighted that Jennifer has joined us on the ServiceFM board.

“Jennifer is a chartered accountant and is also a non-executive director with not-for-profit Workskil Australia Inc and the Australian Strategic Policy Institute.

“Her business acumen will be a significant asset for ServiceFM into the future.”

ServiceFM’s transformation to a facility services company has seen it become a fully digital integrated business via the upgrading of business systems, improved organisational capability and a company-wide rebrand.

The transformation has been a multi-year project, bringing together skills already present within the organisation.

Board Member Profiles


Mal Hemmerling
(chairman)

Mal is an economist, marketer and entrepreneur with more than 40 years’ experience working at the highest level in the public and private sector. A former chief executive of the Australian Grand Prix, Sydney Olympics, Bob Jane Corporation, Adelaide City Council and Playford Council.

Glen Browne (executive director)

Glen is a proven entrepreneur, having started the company that became ServiceFM in 1979. Through hard work and an unswerving vision for quality service, Glen guided the company from humble beginnings to an expansion that saw it expand to include electronic-safety testing and facility-management arms. Now, as executive director, Glen is overseeing the company’s next major development phase.

Mauro Viola (executive director)

Mauro is a dedicated sales leader and industry innovator, with over 30 years’ experience. Over his two decades with the company, Mauro has been integral to the growth of the company’s portfolio, helping it expand to multiple brands before championing the one-brand services solution.

Jennifer Ma (non-executive director)

Jennifer Ma is a chartered accountant and Chapman Capital Partners Managing Director. She has 20 years’ experience advising corporates, SMEs, government and not-for-profits across various sectors. Jennifer was previously a Partner at KPMG and headed its South Australian Corporate Finance practice.
