AS/NZS 3760 is the standard that details the in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment – more commonly known as “test and tag”. It applies to most plug-in and cord-connected devices, including power tools, kettles, extension leads, monitors and appliances used in workshops and industrial settings, to name a few.
Under the standard, testing needs to include a visual inspection looking for visible damage, electrical testing, labels clearly stating test status and date as well as recording inspections and results.
The standard also defines the mandatory testing intervals for devices.
