Test & Tag Services
Workplace safety is at the forefront of all ServiceFM does, and Test & Tag is an essential part of electrical compliance for businesses of all types – from offices and beauty salons through to healthcare environments, Defence and manufacturing sites.
Testing & tagging confirms that equipment is safe to operate and meets industry-specific safety standards, reducing the risk of injury, electrical shock, fire and downtime.
This applies to power boards and cables as well as larger equipment connected via a plug and socket – and everything in between. Proof of electrical compliance – including regularly tested and tagged equipment – is often an insurance requirement, helping businesses to demonstrate due diligence and ensure they are covered in case of an incident. Under Australian work health and safety regulations, every employer has a duty of care to ensure that electrical equipment is safe.
Built for scale, focused on safety
Different appliances require different types of tests under Australian regulations, and the frequency of testing can vary, too.

Frequently asked questions
While some industries are subject to a strict legal framework for testing and tagging, under Australia’s Work Health and Safety regulations every employer has the obligation to provide a safe working environment, and that includes electrical devices.
AS/NZS 3760 is the standard that details the in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment – more commonly known as “test and tag”. It applies to most plug-in and cord-connected devices, including power tools, kettles, extension leads, monitors and appliances used in workshops and industrial settings, to name a few.
Under the standard, testing needs to include a visual inspection looking for visible damage, electrical testing, labels clearly stating test status and date as well as recording inspections and results.
The standard also defines the mandatory testing intervals for devices.
